Multiple Embryo Transfers: Can Additional Risk be Quantified?

While many speak of increased risks associated with multiple embryo transfers (MET), and twins, very few put these risks in numbers:

Single deliveries are associated with a 9% risk of low birth weight, with twinst the risk increases to 57%

Singletons have a 2% risk of very low birth weight, and twins a 9% chance.

14% risk of a premature birth for singletons and a 65% risk with twins.

There are risks for the children and the surrogate as a result of all of the above.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
